Apostrophe abuse is spreading like a plague in New York City! Here are some examples that I’ve seen on my walk from Penn Station to my workplace in the morning. The first one, only visible in the morning when Papaya Dog hangs up their breakfast special banner, is located at 33rd St. and 5th Ave., very close to the Empire State Building. The second is on E. 38th St. between 5th Ave. and Madison Ave.

Maybe it’s Polaris Nailguns & Spa and they’re properly using the apostrophe to show omission. Or perhaps Polaris saw that Java’s Brewin’ had two apostrophes and wanted to fit in.
