I saw this sign at a farm supply store and had to take a picture of it for you. Being a Technical Communications major, this sign really irked me!
An unnecessary apostrophe, unless it means to say “Chicken is by the bay”.
Seen at a craft fair in Cape Cod, MA. Let’s hope Lorraine and her husband are better at sewing than they are at punctuation & grammar. Also – did the rest of this sign get cut off when it was printed? (“Pillows, Towels,”… what else, Lorraine? What else?)
I saw this sign at Cardinal Bar in Madison, Wisconsin. It looked like a nice employee tried correcting the sign, then someone else tried correcting it again, only to both be incorrect.
I realize this isn’t so much a problem with the apostrophe, but of the incorrect use and spelling of the word “their.”
Hope you like it!
This sign is for a Ladie’s bathroom in a gas station near Grand Isle, Louisiana. Taken in 2012. Love that Ladie has her own room there!
Seen in an Irish bar in Crystal Palace, London
This sign was supposedly printed by the national chain and has been up for at least a year or more. A few teachers have commented on it. I marked corrections in Photoshop. Hey, Jiffy Lube, get it right!
Hard to miss this one. The errant apostrophe is in the giant lettering and shows up again in the small print underneath. Points for consistency?
I don’t get it, but I doubt God minds.
