The city where apostrophes arent welcome:
Its a little difficult to place sometimes, but if itd never been invented our sentences wouldnt be so easy to read and wed all get confused because we wouldnt know who owned anything.
But the apostrophe is obviously just too challenging for some.
Birmingham City Council has dropped possessive apostrophes from its road and street signs altogether – so St Paul’s Square becomes St Pauls, for example.

Today’s Seattle Times has an AP story on this as well:

The on-line headline writer had a little fun, “Its a catastrophe for the apostrophe in Britain”
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this.
well there should be an apostrophe in “we’d”
All of Australia has deemed the apostrophe unnecessary on road maps and signs. We went to live in a place called Batemans Bay for a year, and before we went (not knowing about the no-apostrophe rule in Oz) I wondered how many Batemans there were that deserved the town being named after them. Great blog, btw, I can find you many, many examples of the misuse of apostrophes here in Canada!
