That’s right. There is leeway (different style sheets) for pluralizing acronyms like CPA and years (is it the 1900s or the 1900′s, etc.) So technically, this one is off the hook. But to me, it looks funny, all the same.

Yes, what about pint’s? And just to play it safe, why not put an apostrophe after those s-looking things, you know, the dollar sign’s (sic)?

They presumably feel that without the apostrophe, it would look like it’s pronounced “ban-joss”. As if people in front of a musical instrument store would no longer recognise the word “banjo” after it’d had some newfangled pluralization-type thing stuck on the end of it.

Simon, I’m guessing they understand “…s” plurals but they don’t understand “…es” plurals. Strange!
