Where its usual to find a missing apostrophe

This sign is in front of a souvenir shop in St. Michaels, MD. No, “St. Michaels” does not have an apostrophe. There is actually a sign with the same message about 15′ from this one which is correct.

    The counterpart is also prevalent: “it’s” used in a possessive context.
