Two Fer’s @ Applebee’s


Geoffrey sent in this photo from his Applebee’s table on Long Island, NY:

Ferrets? Ferns? Ah, they must be abbreviating “fermented beverages”.

    They had "Two Fers" correct on a different menu but felt the need to put apostophes on this one.

    Actually the original is perfectly correct, insofar as the apostrophe can also be an indication of abbreviation. Thus "Two For One" is shortened to the orthographically adjusted "Two Fer'" and then made plural.

    a "twofer" in Canada is a 24 case of beer :)
