You are reading it wrong:
“Day HAS Gone By”
It is merely an existential reminder of time lost.
Or the owner could have the last name of Day, and tried to play up the name.
The day’s gone by?
Yeah, I think the only way you can rationalize it is to read [the] day has gone by.
