Up-do’s


Complain Away sent in this picture and declared:

The only way this apostrophe is justified is if this word becomes part of a sentence like “This up-do’s even worse than her botox.”

    Nice blog. I too am amazed by the overuse of the apostrophe. It’s really not confusing. Hyphens and commas are confusing, not apostrophes!

    Actually . . . this is how you write the word do’ as in hair do’/hair do sometimes — it depends on preference of the writer. *shrugs*

    Sometimes you DO use an apostrophe when you make a word plural. I’d say this one is actually correct.
